Despite all efforts, Jason still can't really dance, but he is one of our favourite presenters! Jason's career as a television presenter spans 21 years, and he was crowned best presenter for Dancing with the Stars at the 2007 annual Air New Zealand Screen Awards.
Jason had his first taste of the entertainment industry at the age of 17 when he was cast in the lead role of Adrian Mole in the touring Musical/Comedy "Adrian Mole aged 13 and 3/4". At the completion of the tour he was offered a presenting job with the children’s department at TVNZ. He soon became the face of children's television in New Zealand. He then made the move into family television, with shows such as 'Young Entertainers', 'Small Talk' and ‘World Famous’. At age 18 he began presenting a number of childrens’ shows including the ‘Son of a Gunn’ show and ‘What Now’. Ironically, 21 years later, his Christchurch-based production and facilities company, Whitebait TV, now produces What Now and sees him acting as a creative producer.
Jason is in high demand as a host and performer at conferences both here in New Zealand and overseas. He is also a very popular motivational speaker in schools throughout New Zealand.
He has set up Whitebait TV, a production and facilities company in Christchurch where he currently writes, directs and produces television for a number of shows both here and overseas.
His presenting and comedic skills have seen him pick up a number of New Zealand television awards. ‘The Rich List’, was the winner of ‘Best Entertainment Show’ in 2007 and Jason himself was‘Best Presenter’ and ‘Funniest Man on TV’ for 2006 and 2007. From June 2014, Jason has been the drive co-host on MoreFM.
As an MC and entertainer he sings, impersonates, motivates and hosts conferences and events nationally and internationally.
