Wayne Rogers

The Amazing Chicane (Wayne Rogers) is a full-time professional magician, illusionist, children’s entertainer and magical inventor. Wayne received the Grand Master of Magic Award in 2004.
Wayne is equally at home entertaining with close-up magic for a corporate black tie affair, performing comedy magic at a country club, entertaining families at a shopping mall, producing a white rabbit for a child’s birthday party or presenting large scale illusions for a product launch. Chicane’s solo magic act is light-hearted and offbeat. Two favourite items are sawing through a spectator and a levitation using a volunteer from the audience. A spectacular double illusion act features his daughter Felicity.
Chicane has received numerous awards at New Zealand and Australian magic conventions including:
· Best Quick Trick, 1992 convention.· 1995 Chicane and Felicity won Best Stage Act at the 23rd NZ International Convention.· 1996 the NZ Variety Artists Club honoured Chicane with a Scroll of Honour for creative, inventive and professional contributions to NZ magical entertainment.· 1999 at the 25th NZ International Magician’s convention Chicane achieved 1st place in 3 categories – Best effect of the convention, Best quick trick and Best cabaret act. Chicane is a magic writer and lecturer. He is the only NZ magician to have lectured at the famous Hollywood Magic Castle. His first book Commercial Chicanery was published in 1992. Magic Castle Lecture Notes followed in 1993 and Out of the Pole Vault in 1998. Ten of his original ideas have been marketed worldwide. In the Great Kiwi Magic Show television special, Chicane conjured up the entire cast plus dancers, from a magical cabinet – all in front of a live studio audience. Advertising Agency DDB Needham chose Chicane to help design and build the popular Ronald McDonald ‘Happy Meal Machine’ road show. Empire Events employed his talents in a special car transformation illusion for Peugeot. For the grand opening of a new clothing store he amused shoppers waiting in the long queues. In any situation Chicane and his magic is clearly a popular choice.
