Raybon Kan
Book Raybon Kan for your next event or conference, for sophisticated multi-cultural comedy on topical issues.
Named Best Comedian on numerous occasions by Metro and North & South, Raybon Kan is one of New Zealand’s most iconic comedians. Raybon’s been named one of the 50 Most Trusted Kiwis by Reader’s Digest; and one of NZ’s Top 10 Worst Dressed by David Hartnell. He’s even been in the running for Spectacle Wearer of the Year!
A former lawyer, Raybon Kan has performed at the major comedy festivals: Montreal, Edinburgh, and Melbourne; and sold out comedy tours nationwide. His books include America on Five Bullets a Day, and An Asian at my Table. On TV, he’s won the TV IQ quiz Test the Nation three times. Raybon once trained for two months to be a casino dealer, and made a documentary about the journey. In film, he co-wrote the NZ comedy-horror film Diagnosis: Death, a humorous ghost story set in the world of clinical drug trials.
In TV commercials, Raybon Kan was the face of Freedom Air, both in NZ and Australia. (Coincidentally, he also fronted commercials for Freedom Finance, no relation).
A popular after dinner speaker, Raybon also performs as an MC for awards ceremonies, conferences and corporate events at the highest levels. Raybon’s hosted the advertising industry’s Axis Awards, the CAANZ Media Awards, the Netguide Web Awards, and the red-carpet world premiere of Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.
His latest show in the NZ International Comedy Festival was Discomfort Zone. In 2011, Raybon Kan is an Ambassador of the Auckland Arts Festival.
