Mike Handcock

Born in Melbourne Australia but now living in Auckland, Mike describes himself as an innovator, motivator, professional speaker, author and musician.

From an initial background of marketing, Mike joined the financial services industry at age 21. He has held a variety of positions in that industry from Financial Planner to Senior Management in New Zealand’s largest financial services organisation. He currently owns numerous business interests and has a passion for coaching and training. He has owned businesses as diverse as construction, human resources, music production, marketing and property investment. He has business qualifications from Massey University, has completed substantial industry courses and is a life member of XL Results Foundation, Asia’s largest entrepreneur network. Mike has won numerous industry awards, and was nominated for a 21st century award to financial services.

Mike provides executive coaching globally to a variety of entrepreneurs and corporates, and has recently been described as one of Asia’s top ten coaches. Mike has travelled to in excess of sixty countries and draws on his broad international experience and network in bringing together innovative concepts to assist people. A sought after international speaker, Mike is a regular in many of the Asia Pacific nations and has also spoken in the USA and UK. Mike also runs the powerful ‘Rock your Life’ weekend that has proven life changing for numerous attendees.

As a musician Mike has played on eight CD’s including four solo albums, written and produced for a number of artists plus produced advertisements and jingles. He is the chairman of the Healthy Wealthy and Wise Foundation committed to assisting underprivileged children globally.

Mike’s innovative yet practical sales ideas have resulted in him becoming a hugely sought after speaker. He combines his unique talents in music, with humour and his knowledge of business and people to provide entertaining and informative learning experiences. He has spoken extensively in New Zealand, Australia and USA across a variety of groups and recent speaking engagements have resulted in Mike entertaining and training audiences in Singapore, Philippines and Malaysia. Mike will make audiences laugh, sing, dance, ponder and learn in a way that they will never ever forget. In 2006 Mike won the award as Inspirational Speaker of the year NSANZ. He spoke to well in excess of 100 audiences in 29 cities over 15 countries. Audience size was from 20 – 2000 people. Mike’s fourth book released in 2006 ‘Can you teach a goat to dance?’ was nominated as self improvement book of the year and is now being printed in China, Singapore and India.

Mike knows sales and he knows people. From success in his own financial services business in Australia, to General Manager’s position managing the New Zealand sales operation of one of the world’s leading insurance companies, Mike’s leadership contributed to the region becoming one of the most successful subsidiaries in the world. In 1998 Mike put his extensive sales experience in writing. ‘Eyes Wide Open’ received international acclaim, and was placed in the best sellers list in New Zealand financial services and is currently in its third reprint. Following the astronomical success of ‘Eyes Wide Open,’ Mike’s other books ‘Meet Joe Sample’, ‘Your Empire Strikes’ are on their way to achieving similar success.
